Chiba Institute of Technology held a board meeting on May 30, 2023, and announced that Joichi Ito, Councilor of Chiba Institute of Technology and Director of the Innovation Center, was elected as the 14th president. increase.

The term of office will be four years from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2027.

Biography of Joichi Ito

As a digital architect, venture capitalist, entrepreneur, author, and academic, he works primarily on social and technological transformation.

From 2011 to 2019, he served as director of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab. He has served on the boards of the New York Times, Sony, the Mozilla Foundation, OSI, ICANN, and the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), among others, as well as CEO of the non-profit Creative Commons. He is the co-founder and Chief Architect of Digital Garage, a member of the Digital Agency's "Digital Society Concept Conference" and "web3 Study Group", and chairman of the Keizai Doyukai's "Corporate DX Promotion Committee".

In November 2021, he was appointed Director of the Transformation Center of the university. In January 2022, he became a councilor of the university and continues to this day.
